Remember how I was telling you about that truly amazing time in my life? That time I spent exploring my passions and trying to enjoy not working. Well, something else happened in that time period. In addition to falling in love with photography again, I fell in love with pizza.
Yes, I know it sounds quite basic and that almost everyone loves pizza. But I went beyond a fundamental love for cheese and bread. I dug deep into its history, ingredients, doughs, and sauces. I truly committed to it. (My husband and step-daughter had to try a lot of my bad recipes during this time, but I thank them for never complaining.)
While yes, I was in love with making great pizza. I was also in love with the experiment of it all. I read books on Southern Italy’s history and their take on the dough. I found a variety of sauce recipes and techniques online. I tried out many Margherita pizza recipes from Pinterest. Yet, the best part was taking all of these stories and methods to make something of my own. My own perfect pizza.
It felt purposeful and intentional. The research, the stories and creating something that felt well, tangible. Do you know what I mean? That feeling when you put effort into creating and then you actually produce something with it. I was definitely not feeling that anywhere else in my life besides photography. So I continued to make more and more pizza with the goal of the perfect Margherita. Over a year later, I think I’ve got it down. Now it’s time to share my progress and turn it into something I can share with others.
I’m including my basic pizza recipe, sauce recipe and some helpful tips I’ve learned along the way. You can have pizza with Danielle anytime!
