Brand Photoshoot Wardrobe Planning & Styling with Nuuly
During my brand photoshoot planning sessions, I use to hear an audible sigh from my clients when we reached to the topic of wardrobe. I could tell they felt overwhelmed thinking about what to wear. The pressure to have multiple on-brand, trendy yet cost-effective outfits on hand felt like a huge time suck.
As someone that doesn’t always refresh her wardrobe and cares about sustainability, I too found it overwhelming and expensive to choose outfits for my own photoshoots. So I went looking for the perfect solution and it seems I’ve found it!
What is Nuuly you ask? – It’s a clothing rental subscription service that allows you to choose outfits you love and explore new styles. That’s what makes it perfect for your brand photoshoot! You get 5+ items of clothing each month delivered to your door. You can cancel at any time.
How does it work? – You browse styles in your size, choose the ones you love, they send it to you and there you go! Styles you can wear right away without breaking the bank.
When planning your brand photoshoot it’s important to have at least 3 to 5 outfit options to help add variety to your shoot. Here are my tips for using Nuuly for your brand photoshoot wardrobe styling:
TIP # 1 – SORT BY BRAND COLORS & NEUTRAL COMPLEMENTS
It’s important that you use brand colors, neutrals or complementary colors in your brand photoshoot. This keeps you vibe consistent.
Use the filters on Nully to show you clothing only in those colors. This will really help you narrow down the search and allow you to find good options easily.
For example, my brand colors include green and pink. I filtered by green, pink, black, white, cream and multi. My brand colors and neutrals are included, plus any patterns that might be fun.
TIP # 2 – CREATE A CLOSET
As you are browsing through options, you can keep track of what you like by adding it to your closet. You’ll notice a hanger icon on the top right corner of each piece. Use that to save things you like as you search.
Even if you aren’t sure about an item, just add it. You can go back and refine later. You aren’t stuck with these options.
Bonus – if I find a top I like with a cool pair of pants in the image, I’ll try to search for those pants to create a complete outfit. If you don’t like the outfit pictured, think about what other items you already have in you closet go well with this.
TIP # 3 – READ THE REVIEWS
Once you have some items you like and have built your closet, it’s time to narrow it down to 5 items. I found it very helpful to read the reviews. It’s an extra step but it’s saved me from ordering some items that clearly wouldn’t have worked.
I generally look for comments on the sizing, so I know which size to choose if I’m an in between size. You can also do this by looking for people that are you approximate height and weight.
The other important thing to look for here is how they liked the item. There are were a few really cute items that I decided not to try because the reviews were not good. Trust me! Just look.
TIP # 4 – PLAN 2 WEEKS IN ADVANCE
If you are using Nuuly for your brand photoshoot (and I hope you are!) be sure to order at least 2 weeks in advance of your photoshoot. This allows you plenty of time for the items to arrive and for you to try them one.
Bonus – Try everything on right away! This helps you know how many things you actually like and if you still need to find other outfits. Also, it gives you time to pick out accessories to go with the outfit.
That’s it!
You are all set. I hope this helped you understand Nuuly and how to use it for your next brand photoshoot
