I'm Danielle and this is a space for me to share some client love, help you feel confident and hopefully make you feel less alone. So grab some pizza or whatever you love and curl up. Let's get cozy!
Take the quiz to find out!
Your ideal client is waiting for you, all you have to do is cater to them exclusively. That means narrow your focus down to serve one customer type and do it well. Not two, not three, only one. Yes, I said it. I know it’s controversial.
I’ve heard almost every objection you’ve got. I’ll miss out on revenue, I’ll leave people behind, I don’t know how to do that, why do I have to do that and my personal favorite, I enjoy doing more than one thing. I get it! I really do. I love experimenting, I hate leaving people out and I feel bad saying no.
But you know what I also love? I love producing amazing work, I love when things are easy, I love having time to refresh my energy and I love having a tight-knit community. While I know it’s scary to only focus on one ideal client, you are going to be better off for it!
Still not convinced? Let’s dig a little deeper into how this plays out in your business and what that transformation looks like.
Think about your brand and marketing right now. Do you find yourself unsure what message to put out there? Do you context switch constantly to please multiple people? Are you not seeing the people you want following you, subscribing to your content or buying from you?
If so, chances are they might be confused about what you do and who you serve. When you narrow your focus down to one ideal client, everything you do is focused on marketing toward them. You know how to speak to their challenges, the transformation they want to see and where they are looking for answers. It becomes clear what marketing message to put out there, the one that focuses on them exclusively! Also, they know for sure you are the right person to work with.
Just like with focusing your message, narrowing down to one ideal client will help streamline your business. With one ideal client you won’t have multiple processes running at the same time. You’ll know what system works for you and helps you serve that one client type. You’ll be able to streamline your business since you’ll know where your ideal client hangs out, how to target them, what it takes to get the results they need and how to speak to them.
What does this mean for your business? If you know your ideal client loves Instagram and that’s where they find all their tips and tricks, go all in there and don’t worry about the others. If they love podcasts, get featured on one they listen to! You’ll also get very familiar with their challenges, concerns and goals. You’ll hear over and over again in their own words what’s keeping them up at night and the change they are seeking. You can use these exact terms and this voice when you produce Instagram posts, email communication or make sales calls. Finally, you’ll end up with testimonials and constructive client feedback that will help you win over more of these ideal clients.
When you are focused on serving one client, you tend to do it VERY well. You’ll have the mental energy and space to really nail your service/product/offer and perfect it. Your referrals will go through the roof and you’ll build a reputation for being the one that can get it done for this ideal client group!
Make sure to get testimonials from your ideal client and encourage referrals. This is important to growing your network! The other thing you want to do is encourage feedback. Constructive feedback will give you so much information on whether your service/offer/product is serving your clients well and it gives them an opportunity to feel invested in your business. Give it a try!
Let me guess, now you are wondering how exactly to start narrowing down to one ideal client. Grab a copy of my workbook here and get your business focused right now!
*If you don’t achieve that work life balance, maybe you need boundaries or a personal life makeover. Either way, it should free up your time so you aren’t working tirelessly 🙂
