I call this strawberry pizza recipe, the Strawberries Wild! It is best enjoyed outside, in the summer, with rosé and company.

The Strawberry’s Wild

Summer is here and it’s time to enjoy some juicy goodness! I came up with this strawberry pizza so I could have something to pair with this beautiful strawberry rosé I purchased from Las Jaras wines.

I did a little research to see what other’s were doing with strawberries and if they were even putting it on pizza. I found a variety of options: cream cheese, basil, goat cheese, arugula and more. I ultimately settled on the combo I loved the best. My usual cheese base of Parmeggiano Reggiano shredded, then I added sliced strawberries plus basil and topped it off with burrata cheese. Yum! To finish I used a balsamic glaze for some extra fun.

The Whole Experience

This is a fun summer pizza for you to enjoy outside with friends. It pairs well with a sweeter wine, like rosé, or a muddled strawberry mojito. (If that’s more your thing!) I suggest an arugula salad with goat cheese, walnuts and avocado to complement this recipe.

Strawberry Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

Makes 1 single pizza

• Pizza dough of your choice
• 1/3 cup of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, shredded
• 1/4 cup of Strawberries, sliced
• A couple of springs of basil
• 1/3 cup of Burrata cheese, hand separated and removed from water
• A tsp of Balsamic glaze, optional

How to Make this Strawberry Pizza

1. Follow the instructions for making the pizza dough you choose. Once the dough is ready for the oven add the ingredients in the following order.
2. Add the parmigiano reggiano cheese as the base for your ingredients. Sprinkle it all over the dough and leave some room around the edges for the crust.
3. Layer the strawberries on top of the cheese. (You can also place the strawberries on at the end if you are cooking if for a while, the pizza will be less watery that way.)
4. Then add a few springs of basil here and there. If you pizza is cooking for a while you can also leave these to put on after the pizza is fully cooked.
5. To keep the basil and strawberries down as you slide the pizza into the oven, add the burrata cheese on top. I suggest removing it from the water, giving it a little squeeze to get out an excess water and separating it into chunks before adding it to the pizza.
6. Now you can pop that pizza right on in to the oven. Cook it according to the instructions from the pizza dough recipe you used.
7. Once its fully cooked you can drizzle balsamic glaze over the top of the pizza for some added flavor.
8. Then it’s time to sit back, relax and open that rosé. Enjoy!
